2024 OMEP UK Student Travel Awards for the 76th OMEP World Assembly and Conference

The OMEP UK National Committee is offering part sponsorship for two students to attend the 76th OMEP World Congress in Bangkok, Thailand on 15th-19th July 2024. (Please go to the OMEP UK website and click on ‘OMEP 2024 Grants and Awards’ for more details. Download PDF.

The OMEP UK National Committee will provide a sum of up to £1,000 each for two students to attend the conference in part payment of flights, hotel and conference fees only. This must be supported by receipts for travel, hotel and conference fees using economy travel only and recognised conference accommodation.
Candidates who wish to be considered for selection by OMEP Committee UK must submit a presentation in either written or video form which explains:
· Why you would like to attend the World Conference for OMEP UK in Thailand?
. How and why will you add value to the experience of OMEP UK Committee members and members from other countries at the conference?
· How this experience will inform your work with children?
· How this experience will contribute to your personal development?
· How will you disseminate this information to other students?
In order to apply for this opportunity, the following terms and conditions apply.
All students must be current members of OMEP to be eligible for financial support. (Information on how to join: http://www.omep.org.uk/membership/
In return, students will contribute under the direction of the OMEP UK President and Committee members at the conference. This may include:-
· attending lectures, presentations and seminars and taking notes for dissemination
· providing secretarial support to the Committee member
· reporting back to the Committee
· attending social events and trips and visits
· liaising with Committee members from other countries
· writing a short article for the OMEP Newsletter
· writing a short article for OMEP updates
Submission Deadline EXTENDED: Presentations in either format must be submitted to the OMEP UK National Executive Committee at ukomep@gmail.com no later than 5pm on Monday 22nd April 2024.
The decision of the OMEP selection committee will be final.
Participants must provide their own travel insurance and are responsible for all bookings made. Food is provided as part of the conference fee during the day and on some evenings.
2024 Annual World OMEP ESD Student Award
This is a World OMEP travel award competition open to undergraduate and graduate (Bachelor or MA level 1) students. We are looking for outstanding projects that combine children’s voices and play with teaching and learning for sustainability.
Proposals must be for early childhood education projects relating to ESD for children between birth and age 8, with preference for children younger than 6 years of age.
Proposals must be for recent or ongoing projects that (a) have been implemented during the 2023- 2024 academic years, and (b) will have produced substantial results or be fully completed by June 2024. Project proposals must include information on project activities, outcomes, and impact:
Submission Deadline: April 15, 2024
One project will be selected. The winner will be notified by May 15, 2024.
The award will be recognized by an honorary diploma. OMEP will organize an ESD Webinar in September where the winners will be presenting their projects. Additionally, the winners will receive up to a maximum of 600 USD as a reimbursement of travel expenses, and a free ticket to participate at the OMEP 2024 World Conference in Thailand.

15th Annual OMEP ESD Award
This is another World OMEP travel award competition open to all members. Initial applications must be made to OMEP UK: ukomep@gmail.com by March 15th
The World OMEP ESD Leadership Committee will finally review all proposals. Between 1 and 5 projects will be selected, with geographic representation as one selection criterion.
Winner(s) will be notified by May 15, 2024.
The award will be recognized by an honorary diploma. OMEP will organize an ESD Webinar in September where the winners will be presenting their projects. Additionally, the winners will receive up to a maximum of 600 USD as a reimbursement of travel expenses, and a free ticket to participate at the OMEP 2024 World Conference in Thailand. There, winners will be expected to present their work at a parallel session during the conference.
Winning projects will also be uploaded on the World OMEP website and ESD Resource Bank.

2024 OMEP New Scholar Awards
US$ 500 for a postgraduate student
US$1,000 for an early career researcher
The OMEP New Scholar Award is a world project initiative of OMEP in order to promote study and research related to early childhood education and care to facilitate broad understanding of the needs of early childhood worldwide. This is the third year that OMEP will present a research award for outstanding new scholars around the world.
We invite all OMEP members and non-members to submit their proposals for the 2024 award.
Your research paper must be received via email: omepnewscholar@gmail.com AND: omepkorea2803@daum.net by April 15, 2024 and will not be accepted after the deadline.
Winners will be notified by May, 1, 2024.
